About the Symposium

ASQ® Around the World is an invitation-only, one-of-a-kind opportunity to share advances in developmental screening. Invited attendees will talk with Jane Squires, Diane Bricker, and other ASQ developers; share important ASQ research with others; and exchange information, ideas, and innovations.

Participation Options:

Invited attendees can participate through one or both of the following: (1) presenting a poster or (2) giving a 30- or 60-minute presentation. Check out the presentation highlights from the 4th Symposium here!

Topics:

  • Cultural and linguistic adaptations
  • Developing norms for different populations
  • Implementation practices and follow-up
  • Family engagement, including culturally inclusive practices
  • Developing a system for online screening

Cost:

There is no registration fee for attending the Symposium as a presenter. Attendees are responsible for their own travel costs, including airfare and accommodation.

Length:

The Symposium begins on Friday evening (September 5), runs all day Saturday (September 6), and ends with a half day on Sunday (September 7).

Language:

The Symposium will be presented in English. Attendees are welcome to register a colleague to come with them for translation assistance or working reference.

Accommodations

The ASQ® Around the World Symposium will be held at the beautiful Lisbon Marriott in Lisbon, Portugal.

Location

The Lisbon Marriott is conveniently located in the heart of scenic Lisbon, a ten-minute drive from Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS). It is close to local places of interest, including the Lisbon Zoo, the Vasco da Gama Aquarium, Calouste Gulbenkian Museum, and the Lisbon Oceanarium.

Booking Your Room

We have reserved a block of rooms for Symposium attendees. You can book your hotel room here. Some important information to keep in mind:

  • Book your room no later than August 18. Please reserve early using the provided link to ensure access to your preferred room type.
  • If you are traveling with a colleague or translator and sharing a room, you will need to request a room with two beds at the time of booking. Rooms with two beds are available on a first come, first served basis, so be sure to book these as soon as possible.
  • You can cancel your booking at no charge up until August 18, 2025. On August 19, the hotel will charge your credit card with the cost of your entire stay (room rate for each night plus applicable taxes) and will be non-refundable.

Meals

Breakfast is included with your hotel reservation at the Lisbon Marriott when booked with the provided link. A complimentary light dinner will be provided during our Friday evening reception. Lunch and snacks will be provided on Saturday and Sunday.

Guests

Guest Policy

You may bring a colleague or translator to participate with you in the Symposium. No fee will be charged for their attendance. Additional guests who will attend as audience members and not participate in a presentation or a poster at the Symposium are also welcome to attend; a guest attendance fee may be incurred (please email Erin Hoskins for information).

Other Invitees

In addition to ASQ co-developers Jane Squires and Diane Bricker, other guests at this year’s Symposium will include researchers, childhood development professionals, and ASQ publishers from many countries, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, the Netherlands, and more.

Cancellation Policy

Symposium Cancellation Policy

  • If you are unable to attend the Symposium after accepting your invitation, notify Erin Hoskins by email no later than August 5.
  • If you paid to register as a non-participating guest and are unable to attend, notify Erin Hoskins by email no later than August 5 and a partial refund will be issued. No refunds will be available after August 5, but you may request to send a substitute. Substitutes must submit a completed RSVP Form at least 10 business days before the Symposium.
  • Brookes reserves the right to cancel the International Symposium if unforeseen circumstances necessitate it. We will make every effort to inform registrants as soon as possible in the unlikely event of cancellation (but we cannot be responsible for prepaid expenses incurred by participants or guests planning to attend).

Hotel Cancellation Policy

The hotel reservation may be cancelled at no charge through August 18. Starting on August 19, the full amount of your stay (room rate for each night and applicable fees) will be charged to your credit card by the hotel and is non-refundable.
